Asante Kotoko Parts Ways with Coach Prosper Ogum Amid Poor Run

Kumasi, Ghana - 22 April, 2025 - Ghanaian football club Asante Kotoko has parted ways with head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum due to a string of disappointing performances in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Despite leading the team to league glory in the 2021/22 campaign, Ogum's recent stint at the helm has been marked by underwhelming results, including a winless streak in the team's last three matches.

A 2-0 defeat to Nations FC on Matchday 28 appears to have been the catalyst for the decision, with the club citing Ogum's performance as the reason for his dismissal.

In a statement, Asante Kotoko thanked Ogum for his dedication and service, wishing him well in his future endeavors.

'' Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has this afternoon parted company with Head Coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum.

This decision was reached following constructive discussions between both parties, with a shared understanding that it is in the best interest of the club at this time.

We thank Coach Ogum for his dedication and service to the club, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors.

We urge our supporters to remain calm and continue to support the club during this transition. Further updates will be communicated in due course,'' the statement read.

The Porcupine Warriors currently trail league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars by six points, with just six matches remaining in the season. Fans are hoping for a swift turnaround under new leadership as the title race intensifies.

Asante Kotoko has reportedly been linked to former coach Karim Zito, who could potentially take over the reins.
