Armed National Security Operatives Raid Home of Bawumia's Aide

Accra, Ghana - 07 April, 2025 - Armed National Security operatives allegedly raided the private residence of Yakubu Issahaku, former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in Sapeiman on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

According to reports, the raid, under the direction of Superintendent of Police Sulemana Sule, caused extensive damage and disruption to the property. Thirty masked and armed personnel forcibly entered Issahaku's home, breaking security doors and disconnecting CCTV systems.

They removed internet routers, switches and the home's hard disk, searching every room without explanation or legal justification.

Issahaku claims to know Superintendent Sule personally, raising questions about the motives and legality of the raid. This incident is under scrutiny, with concerns about potential abuse of power and disregard for individual rights.

Similar controversies have surrounded National Security raids in Ghana. In March 2025, operatives led by Richard Jakpa raided the home of former Bank of Ghana Governor Ernest Addison, allegedly stealing GH₵10,000 and jewelry. The minority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, condemned the raid, calling for President Mahama to address human rights abuses and security excesses.
