Ama Bartels-Kodwo: Prominent Ahwoi Family Member Passes Away
Accra, Ghana - 18 June, 2025 - The Ahwoi family has announced the passing of Mrs. Ama Adoma Bartels-Kodwo, a respected member of the influential family and wife of former senior diplomat Ambassador Jonathan Paa Kow Bartels-Kodwo.
She died on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and public service.
As the sister of notable figures such as Honourable Ato Ahwoi, Ambassador Kwesi Ahwoi, and Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, who all served as Ministers of State, Mrs. Bartels-Kodwo was part of a family that has played a significant role in shaping Ghana's governance and politics. Her siblings also include Mrs. Efua Bram-Larbi and Mrs. Agnes Appiagyei-Dankah.
Mrs. Bartels-Kodwo is survived by her three children: Mr. Paa Kow Bartels-Kodwo in the United States, Ms. Nana Adwoa Bartels-Kodwo in the United Kingdom, and Ms. Maame Efua Bartels-Kodwo.
