Alexander Afenyo-Markin is the Minority Leader in Ghana's Parliament and MP for Effutu

Effutu, Central Region - 07 May, 2025 - The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has reaffirmed his dedication to upholding the independence of the judiciary as a cornerstone of the country's democratic governance.

Afenyo-Markin made this known during the commissioning of a state-of-the-art court complex in the Effutu municipality, which is equipped with both a High Court and a Circuit Court.

The new facility aims to cater to the growing need for accessible justice delivery in the area, driven by a rapidly expanding population.

According to Afenyo-Markin, the establishment of the court complex will not only alleviate the pressure on existing judicial infrastructure but also bring justice closer to the people.

The Minority Leader emphasized that a strong judiciary is essential to maintaining the rule of law and promoting order in society. He reiterated his commitment to supporting the systems and structures that protect Ghana's democracy and uphold its constitution.

“The commissioning of the law complex reflects a conviction I hold very dear to me that law and order is the bedrock of a functioning democratic society. Without a strong judiciary, the very fabric of our democracy begins to erode.

The commissioning of the court complex marks a significant milestone in the Effutu municipality's pursuit of improved justice delivery and strengthened democratic institutions.
