Accra Tourist Information Centre Damaged in Fire Outbreak,Rockz Waakye Joint Affected
Accra, Ghana – 4 August, 2025 – A devastating fire outbreak occurred at the Accra Tourist Information Centre, situated opposite Afrikiko in the early hours of Monday, August 4, 2025. The blaze, which started around 1:00 a.m., has caused significant damage to parts of the facility, including the popular Rockz Waakye food joint.Rockz Waakye is owned by musician Reggie Rockstone and his wife Zilla Limann, who recently opened a flagship restaurant at the Centre.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is still investigating the cause of the fire, with eyewitnesses suggesting that the flames may have originated from the kitchen area of Rockz Waakye. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding the cause of the fire.
Personnel from the GNFS responded promptly to the incident and are working tirelessly to determine the cause of the fire and bring the situation under control. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
In a separate incident, over 50 wooden structures and metal containers were destroyed in a fire outbreak at Madina Ritz Junction on Sunday. The blaze, which reportedly began at a washing bay within the slum area, displaced scores of residents. Firefighters from the Madina Fire Station responded swiftly, working to prevent the fire from spreading further.
The GNFS is urging the public to remain calm and cooperative as they work to contain the situation. Further updates on the incidents will be provided as more information becomes available.
