Accra, Ghana - The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has welcomed Ghana's Armwrestling champion and 2024 World Armwrestling Championship gold medalist, Grace Minta, to the Police Headquarters. 

The IGP praised Minta's achievements, offering the Police Service's collaboration with the Ghana Armwrestling Federation on development projects.

"We are proud of your accomplishments, Grace. Your dedication and perseverance serve as an inspiration to many young Ghanaians," he said.

Dr. Dampare challenged the federation to discover and nurture more young talents, emphasizing the need to celebrate and reward Minta's unprecedented achievement.

He hinted at a possible reward for the champion within the police service's internal reward structure.

The IGP urged sports federations to commercialize talent, exploring innovative ways to generate revenue and create employment opportunities.

He emphasized the need to harness the economic potential of sports, moving beyond mere participation.

Minta expressed gratitude for the IGP's support, sharing her vision to mentor future champions, promote participation in schools and communities, and develop athletes' skills and confidence.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to explore partnership opportunities, leveraging Minta's success to drive positive change in Ghanaian society.

The IGP received a customized Armwrestling medal, symbolizing the beginning of a strong partnership between the Ghana Armwrestling Federation and the Ghana Police Service.

Present at the meeting were Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, Mr. Jesse Agyepong and Godfrey Amarteifio, President, Secretary and board member respectively of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, COP Dr. Daniel Afriyie, Director General Human Resources and DCOP Dr. Otu-Nyarko, Director in charge the Ghana Police Hospital both on the Ghana Police Service management team.
