Okaikwei North: Court rules in favor of Dokua
Accra, Ghana - A court has dismissed a petition challenging the eligibility of Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei North, paving the way for her candidacy in the upcoming elections.
The petition, filed by Kingsley Anyamasah, questioned Asiamah-Adjei's eligibility to vote in the constituency. However, the court's ruling has cleared her to contest the seat.
Asiamah-Adjei, the current MP for Akuapem North, had secured the NPP's nomination for Okaikwei North in December 2023.
Her counsel, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, welcomed the court's decision, stating, "The case against Dokua has been dismissed. She's the legitimate parliamentary candidate for the NPP in Okaikwei North."
The ruling significantly bolsters Asiamah-Adjei's campaign, allowing her to focus on the tightly contested Okaikwei North constituency without legal hurdles.
