NPP's Cynthia Morrison goes Independent
Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison has announced her intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 parliamentary election.
Speaking to her constituents recently, Ms Morrison, who formerly served as Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, emphasized her commitment to the development of Agona, adding that her candidacy is centered on the area's growth rather than political parties.
Ms Morrison's decision follows her defeat in the NPP parliamentary primary on April 13, where she received 152 votes to Christopher Arthur's 240 votes.
She stated that her major objective is to serve Agona, regardless of whether voters choose former President John Dramani Mahama or Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the presidential contest.
Ms Morrison won the Agona West parliamentary seat in the 2016 general election and was re-elected in 2020.
