NIA workers begin indefinite strike over unimplemented scheme of service

Accra, Ghana - October 7, 2024 - The National Identification Authority (NIA) has been hit with an industrial strike, effective today, October 7, 2024.

The Divisional Executives Council of the Public Services Workers Union, under the Trades Union Congress (TUC) Ghana, announced the strike in response to the employer's failure to implement their newly approved scheme of service.

According to the workers, the strike will continue until the agreed-upon scheme is fully enforced. The workers expressed frustration over the delay, stating that the failure to implement the scheme is a blatant breach of trust and a direct attack on their well-being.

“The SoS, which was painstakingly approved by PSC within two weeks in record history, in the month of March remains a vital tool for our collective survival and progress. Management’s obstinate refusal to implement this critical document is a blatant betrayal of trust and a direct attack on our well-being,'' part of the statement read.
