Mahama calls on EC to release provisional voters register
The National Democratic Congress' (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the Electoral Commission for delaying to furnish political parties with copies of the provisional voter register ahead of the Commission's voter exhibition exercise.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Sogakope on Friday, August 16, 2024, Mr Mahama stated that the Commission requested the parties to submit their external drives for the register in July but has yet to make it available. Political parties had yet to obtain the provisional voters register as of Friday evening, and the Commission had not provided an explanation for the delay.
“I want to draw the attention of the Electoral Commission (EC), In July they asked all political parties to bring their hard drives so they can give us a copy of the provisional voter’s register. The exhibition of the register starts in 4 days, we should have received those provisional registers by now so that we can help our members check if their names are there.”
“I’m calling on the EC to make sure that we get the hard drives with the provisional register today [Friday, August 16], so that we can send them to our constituencies and let our executives start helping the people check and make sure their names are there, " he stated.
