Mahama alleges NPP orchestrated DKM Microfinance debacle
Bono Region, Ghana - National Democratic Congress' (NDC) Flagbearer, John Mahama, has alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its Members of Parliament orchestrated the DKM Microfinance scandal as a smear campaign.
During a visit to the Bono Region, Mahama claimed that the owner of the defunct microfinance company is an NPP supporter and has ties to the Vice President.
He presented photos and comments from former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery as evidence.
“Recently, the Vice President Bawumia visited Nandom and was seen in the company of the real owner of DKM. The man he was with is, in fact, the true owner.”
“The former Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, later admitted that the owner of DKM is a sympathizer of the NPP and one of the financiers of the Vice President. The lies they spread about me have now been exposed. The owner of DKM is actually affiliated with the NPP.”
Mr Mahama alleged that the embezzled funds are being used to finance Bawumia's campaign.
The DKM Microfinance scandal resulted in significant financial losses for thousands of customers, with millions of cedis lost due to unauthorized investments.
