Israel-Lebanon crisis: Ghana's Foreign Ministry warns citizens to flee Lebanon amid rising tensions
Accra, Ghana - October 4, 2024 - Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sounded urgent warning to Ghanaian nationals living in Lebanon of potential danger due to the deteriorating crisis in the region and is encouraging all nationals to leave the country immediately.
To facilitate a swift exit, the ministry advises Ghanaians to take advantage of limited flights available in Lebanon.
In a statement released on October 4, 2024, the Ministry is urging those without travel documents to should contact the Embassy of Ghana in Cairo, Egypt or the Ghana Honorary Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon to obtain emergency travel certificates. Citizens requiring exit permits should also reach out to the Consulate.
The situation in Lebanon remains volatile, with violent clashes along the border with Israel. The security situation may worsen without warning, affecting citizens' ability to leave the country.
Other countries, including Canada and Sweden, have issued similar warnings, advising citizens to leave Lebanon by commercial means.
