Ghana's Fremah earns WAF Referee Badge

Rising Ghanaian Armwrestling female referee, Abigail Fremah, has been certified as a World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) Junior Referee, after successfully passing the WAF referee’s seminar held in Moldova. 

She was part of Team Ghana’s contingent that represented the country at the just ended World Armwrestling Championship held in Chinsau, Moldova from August 15-25, 2024. 

A referees’ seminar was held on Saturday, August 17 where she successfully passed the theoretical aspect and was given the platform to officiate as part of her assessment to get certified. 

Her resilience and steadiness behind the table caught the eyes of the World Referees Panel and was duly acknowledged and given a certificate and medal as a World Junior Referee.

Fremah joined the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) as a logistics assistant about three years ago under the leadership of Charles Osei Asibey but took interest in officiating and was trained by the Technical Director, Hussein Akuetteh Addy. 

She steadily progressed through the ranks and rose to become a certified senior referee during the recently held 13th African Games and progressed to participate in the World Championships.

She is currently a master’s in education student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Education in Health Physical Education and Recreation from the University of Cape Coast. 

She now becomes the youngest female world armwrestling junior referee in Ghana and Africa.
