Ghana Police opens investigation into viral video showing attack on female student

The Ghana Police Service has opened an investigation into a distressing viral video that has prompted outcry on social media.

The 31-second video, which has been widely shared on social media, depicts a frightening incident in which a group of young guys abuse a female student.

 The undated film, labeled "Kumaca on heat," opens with a young woman walking in front of a huge group of mostly male pupils.

 In the video, she is treated to physical and verbal abuse, with many people pushing and yelling at her as others jeer.

In a subsequent scene, an unnamed person violently snatches the student by the top of her dress and kicks her legs from beneath her.

In response, the Ghana Police Service has issued a social media statement assuring the public that those guilty will be identified and prosecuted.

Investigations are currently underway to hold the culprits responsible for their acts.
