GMA President faces removal over strike directive
Dr. Frank Serebour is the president of Ghana Medical Association (GMA),

Accra, Ghana - October 7, 2024 -  A formal petition has been filed by Dr. Vishnu Nene Limon Abayateye, a member of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), seeking the removal of the association's president, Dr. Frank Serebour.

The petition, dated October 8, 2024, alleges that Dr. Serebour issued a directive for GMA members to defy Organised Labour's nationwide strike on October 10, 2024, without consulting the National Executive Council or General Assembly.

According to Dr. Abayateye, this unilateral decision has damaged the GMA's reputation, making it appear inconsistent, particularly considering its past stance on illegal mining.

The petition outlines serious allegations against Dr. Serebour and will be presented at the annual general assembly meeting in Ho, scheduled for November 3-10, 2024.

Dr. Abayateye aims to gather a two-thirds majority vote from the general assembly to pass the motion for Dr. Serebour's removal.

This development highlights the ongoing tensions within the GMA and its response to the nationwide strike.
