Fire guts nine-bedroom hostel at KNUST
A terrible fire consumed a two-story hostel at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Thursday night, leaving students in shock and sorrow.
The fire consumed the entire second story of the nine-bedroom apartment, leaving the students destitute and distressed.Their personal possessions were turned to ashes, leaving no way to salvage them. Despite the gravity of the situation, no injuries were reported.
DO3 Peter Addai, the Ashanti Regional Fire Service's Public Relations Officer, spoke with Citi News about the attempts to put out the fire. He stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause of the incident.
Addai further noted that eleven rooms were spared from the fire and are now habitable. In response to this problem, KNUST's Students Representative Council (SRC) has arranged for affected students to stay temporarily at the SRC hostel.
The council is also emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols for all students to prevent such incidents in the future.
