Contractor locks out students over unpaid debt in Zabzugu
Zabzugu, Northern Region, Ghana - In an unprecedented move,a contractor, Mohammed Badaru locked out students and teachers from Tuvugu D/A Primary School on September 18, 2024, over an unpaid debt dating back eight years.
The debt stems from the Ghana Education Trust Fund's (GETFund) failure to compensate Badaru for completing a six-unit classroom block in 2017.
Zabzugu's DCE, Ahmed Yussif Adarkwa has criticized the contractor's lockout of Tuvugu D/A Primary School, citing "bad faith."
He pledged to find a temporary solution with the District Director of Education.
The lockout has disrupted academic activities, causing frustration among teachers and students.
