Accra, Ghana - Ghana's Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, revealed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has yet to respond to calls for inspections at the Accra and Cape Coast Sports stadiums.

This comes after CAF withdrew its conditional approval for the Baba Yara Stadium, prompting the National Sports Authority (NSA) to close down the Accra Sports Stadium, Cape Coast Stadium, and Baba Yara for maintenance.

"It’s not that we don’t have FIFA-standard pitches in Ghana; we do have FIFA-standard pitches in Cape Coast, Accra, and Kumasi," Ussif told Parliament's Sports Select Committee on Tuesday, September 24.

"It is not true that we lack FIFA-standard stadiums in Ghana. It is up to CAF to decide.

"We have written to them to request an inspection of the Accra Sports Stadium and Cape Coast Sports Stadium, and they have yet to respond," he added.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is racing against time to find a suitable venue for the Black Stars' next home game.

With the current stadiums undergoing renovations, Ghana might be forced to host their next match abroad, potentially in Togo, Nigeria, or Ivory Coast, due to none meeting CAF's requirements.

The Black Stars are set to face Sudan on October 11 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Asante Kotoko, Ghana's premier league giants, have also been affected by the stadium closures, opting to play their home matches at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.
