'65 People Have Investigated Out Of 200 ORAL Cases' - Kwakye Ofosu Reveals

Accra, Ghana - 10 May, 2025 - Ghana's Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative has led to investigations of 65 individuals out of over 200 cases.
This forms part of efforts by the Mahama administration to hold past government officials accountable.
In an interview on the 'Key Points' on TV3 on Saturday, May 10, Kwakye Ofosu stated ;“65 people have been investigated out of over 200 cases from ORAL.”
The government has also been enforcing asset declaration regulations, with President John Dramani Mahama penalizing appointees who failed to meet the March 31 deadline. Defaulting appointees will forfeit four months' salaries, which will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, "Mahama Cares."
According to the President, those who missed the deadline will face additional sanctions beyond the initial one-month salary donation required of all appointees. The President gave the defaulting appointees until May 7 to comply or face dismissal.
Some high-profile individuals who failed to submit their asset declaration forms include Nathan Kofi Boakye, Director of Operations at the Presidency; Seth Emmanuel Terkper, Presidential Adviser on the Economy; and Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, Special Envoy to the Alliance of Sahelian States.
The government has launched a Code of Conduct for Public Servants, outlining rules on conflict of interest, gifts, and use of government funds. The code applies to ministers, deputy ministers, presidential staffers, and other public officials. Failure to comply can lead to suspension or dismissal.
The Minister emphasized that the asset declaration law will be enforced, and those who fail to comply will face consequences.
“In the past, people flouted this with no consequences. This time, President Mahama is setting a certain tone,
“We have moved from the position where there was no sanction to where there is sanction,”
He added that the Auditor-General will provide an update on non-compliant officials, and the President will take action based on the report.
The reason why we need to wait for the A-G and do a perusal is because people are appointed on a different date and time, even after the latest deadline, some people have been appointed.
“So we will get an update for the A-G to be certain of why it has not been done what and what actions will take place.''
