2022 Batch of College of Education Graduate Teachers to Picket at GES Today Over 10-Month Salary Delay
Accra, Ghana - 23 June, 2025 - Hundreds of newly posted teachers from the 2022 batch of College of Education graduates are set to picket at the Ghana Education Service (GES) headquarters on Monday, June 23, to demand immediate payment of salaries and issuance of staff IDs.
The teachers, who were appointed on August 1, 2024, have not received any payment for the past ten months, despite repeated follow-ups and assurances from GES officials.
According to Solomon Opoku Gyan, a member of the group, the prolonged delay has taken a toll on the teachers, with some reportedly suffering financially and others even losing their lives. "We've worked for 10 months now without pay. We don't even have staff IDs. Every time we visit GES, they offer excuses. It's too much—we're suffering," Gyan said in an interwith with Citi News.
