127 Artisans, 5 MSMEs Graduate from NAELP-AngloGold Ashanti Livelihood Programme

Accra, Ghana - 04 April, 2025 - A joint initiative by German Cooperation, the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme (NAELP), and AngloGold Ashanti Ghana has empowered 127 skilled artisans and supported five Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) with essential tools and equipment.
The programme, aimed at promoting sustainable employment and enterprise growth, provided training in various skills such as welding, leatherwork, fashion, and electronics.
This initiative is expected to improve the livelihoods of the beneficiaries and enhance their technical skills and business management.
In addition to the training, the programme also launched the Livelihood Enhancement Programme, which offers training in digitalization, financial literacy, and business planning.
This programme aims to strengthen MSMEs and create over 100 new jobs, fostering long-term economic empowerment.
The initiative is part of the Invest for Jobs programme, a special initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The programme is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
According to the United Nations, MSMEs are crucial for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as they provide employment opportunities, improve livelihoods, and promote economic growth.
Initiatives like this programme are essential for supporting the growth and development of MSMEs in Ghana.
