Accra, Ghana - 15 March, 2025 -  Ghana's Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has urged for the creation of fair and inclusive work environments, where women are given equal opportunities to succeed.

At an International Women's Day event, she emphasized the importance of promoting equity and challenged stakeholders to implement policies that support women's well-being and productivity.

“We gather not just to celebrate our collective contribution to governance and public service delivery but to commit to action to ensure that equity is not merely an aspiration, but a lived reality across our various Secretariats, Directorates, and Units,'' she stated.

“Let us remember that equity is not about favour, nor is it about division. It is about fairness, opportunity, and ensuring that every woman has the space to lead, thrive, and contribute at her fullest potential.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang's remarks highlighted the need to address the barriers that prevent women from reaching their full potential in the workplace. She stressed that fostering a culture of equality and inclusivity is crucial for achieving a more balanced and productive workforce.

“I am particularly pleased that today’s discussion will focus on “Wellness in Women,” highlighting critical aspects of managing workplace stress. This is a fundamental pillar that determines the strength of our workforce. A healthy woman is a productive woman, and a well-balanced woman is an empowered woman.

“Our conversations today must not end here. They must lead to policies, practices, and actions that make our workplaces truly safe and equitable”, she added.

The event, themed "Accelerating Action for a More Equitable Workplace," which brought together government officials, stakeholders, and women's rights advocates, served as a call to action for promoting gender equality and empowering women in Ghana.
