Teenage Sensation Mozley Boakye Yiadom Wins Captain One Golf Championship

Obuasi, Ghana 23 Jan, 2025 - A remarkable performance by 18-year-old Mozley Boakye Yiadom saw him claim victory in the Captain One Golf Society's Eight Major Championship.

The young golfer, a member of the Royal Golf Club, demonstrated impressive skill and determination to win the prestigious title.

Yiadom's winning score of 134 points over two days secured his position ahead of seasoned golfer Stephen Dapaah, who finished second with 140 points. Prince Adukwa took third place with 146 points, narrowly beating defending champion Kwabena Poku.

The championship, held at the Royal Golf Club and Obuasi Golf Club, featured a range of categories, including junior and senior competitions. Fast-rising female golfer Ayisha Aminu won the junior category, while Kwabena Poku claimed the Champions of Champions title.

In a newly introduced footgolf competition, Pius Ayeh Appiah emerged victorious with a net score of 43. Yiadom, who has been playing golf since the age of five, expressed gratitude to the organizers and the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu for their support.

"I was nervous at the beginning but as I continued to play, I gained confidence and recorded some great scores to win the trophy," he stated.

"I am very proud and urge other young golfers or talented people to go all out and become the best in their chosen disciplines," he added.

Captain One Golf Society President Pius Ayeh Appiah praised Yiadom's achievement, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young golfing talent.

According to him, the society aims to make the championship an international event next year, having already attracted golfers from across the country and beyond.

"It is exciting to see the young ones step up since that has been the intention. It is important to groom young ones to step into the shoes of the current professional golfers.'' he stated.

"We had some international golfers in this year's competition, and we are working hard to make it an international event from next year,'' he added.
