Tata Technologies Shifts Focus to Local Hiring in US Amidst Trump’s Immigration Crackdown
Tata Technologies, India's leading engineering services provider, is set to increase its recruitment of local nationals in the United States in response to the Trump administration's stringent immigration policies. The company plans to hire more locals to mitigate the impact of the steep $100,000 fee imposed on H1-B visas, used by tech majors including Amazon and Meta Platforms.
According to Warren Harris, CEO of Tata Technologies, "As we react and respond to the change in legislation in and around visas, it will mean that we will be recruiting more local nationals in the United States." This shift is expected to help the company reduce its reliance on H1-B visas and minimize the financial burden of the visa fee.
Tata Technologies already employs a workforce that is over 70% local nationals in China, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The company's clients include Jaguar Land Rover, Vietnamese electric car maker VinFast, and Boeing. North America accounted for roughly a fifth of Tata Technologies' $587.97 million revenue in 2024-2025.
The Trump administration's immigration crackdown has sent shockwaves through the tech industry, with companies scrambling to adjust their hiring strategies. Tata Technologies' move may inspire other Indian IT firms to follow suit, prioritizing local talent acquisition in the US.
