Sammi Awuku Takes Helm as SME Global's Vice President for Africa

Accra, Ghana - 17 March, 2025 -  In a significant development aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa, Ghanaian lawmaker Sammi Awuku has been appointed Vice President of SME Global, a prominent international organization dedicated to advancing entrepreneurship and startup growth.

As Vice President in charge of Africa, Awuku will play a pivotal role in driving initiatives that support SMEs, advocating for regulatory reforms, and amplifying the role of small businesses in shaping the continent's economic future.

Sammi Awuku's appointment as Vice-President of SME Global for Africa was officially confirmed in a letter dated March 10, 2025, signed by Lilia Heitz, Secretary General of SME Global.

 “On behalf of the Executive Office of SME Global, I am pleased to formally confirm your appointment as Vice-President of SME Global of the IDU.

“We are confident that your contributions will be instrumental in driving our mission forward and fostering impactful initiatives. We appreciate your willingness to take on this responsibility and look forward to working together to strengthen the SME landscape globally. Once again, congratulations, and welcome to SME Global,'' portions of the letter read.

SME Global, the Trade and Economic arm of the International Democracy Union, brings together policymakers and business leaders from around the world to champion low taxation, economic responsibility, and individual liberty within a socially-oriented market economy.

Awuku's appointment is seen as a major boost for African entrepreneurship, leveraging his expertise and network to drive growth and development across the continent.

He will work closely with a team of esteemed board members, including Jörgen Warborn, MEP, President of SME Global, and Randy Hoback, MP, Vice-President of SME Global.
