Data Bundle Prices to Increase Across All Networks from July 1 - Sam George

Accra, Ghana - 10 June, 2025 - Ghana's Minister of Communications, Samuel George, has announced a significant increase in data bundle allocations across all telecommunication networks in the country, effective July 1, 2025. The Minister made the announcement during a press conference in Accra, highlighting successful negotiations with network operators.
According to the Minister, the increases are a result of his engagement with the CEOs of the telecommunication companies, and are aimed at enhancing digital accessibility and value for money in Ghana's telecom market.
"I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures," he stated.
The specific measures announced by the Minister include a 10% increase across all data bundles for AirtelTigo Ghana and Telecel Ghana, and a 15% increase for MTN Ghana.
For AirtelTigo Ghana, the GH₵400 bundle will be upgraded from 195GB to 236GB, representing a significant increase in data allocation. Similarly, Telecel Ghana's GH₵400 bundle will increase from 90GB to 250GB. MTN Ghana will also restore its GH₵399 bundle to offer 214GB, up from the previous 92.88GB for the GH₵350 bundle.
“Starting July 1, AT-Tigo Ghana will offer a 10% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network. Additionally, the GHC400 bundle, which currently offers 195 gigabytes of data, will now offer 236 gigabytes of data.''
“Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited- Telecel, also a 10% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network. Their GHC400 bundle, which currently offers 90 gigabytes, will offer 250 gigabytes from July 1,'' he added.
The Minister acknowledged that the increases will come at a considerable cost to the network operators, but expressed gratitude to the telecom CEOs for their cooperation. "I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators," Minister George said. "However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people."
The announcement is seen as a positive development for consumers, who have been advocating for more affordable and reliable data services. The increases are expected to benefit millions of Ghanaians who rely on mobile data for various aspects of their lives, including education, business, and communication.
