Nsoatreman FC Pulls Out of GPL, Citing Safety Concerns for Players

Nsoatre, Bono Region, Ghana - 15 March, 2025 - A dramatic turn of events has shaken the Ghana Premier League, as Nsoatreman FC announced its immediate withdrawal from the competition, citing grave concerns over player safety.

The club noted in a statement that the decision comes after a series of troubling incidents during the team's matches, including a violent episode during their encounter with Asante Kotoko at Nana Kronmansah Park, which resulted in the horrific death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, who was fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants.

This senseless act of violence sent shockwaves through Ghanaian football, prompting Nsoatreman to take drastic action.

Nsoatreman FC stated that despite efforts to address their concerns, they could no longer guarantee the safety of their team members, leading to their decision to withdraw from the league.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is yet to officially respond to Nsoatreman's withdrawal, which could have significant implications for the league, including the potential for a revised relegation battle.

If Nsoatreman's withdrawal is approved, the Ghana Premier League will be forced to proceed with 17 teams, potentially throwing the relegation battle into chaos.
