NDC raises alarm over electoral irregularities - We will not countenance the use of indelible ink that is cleanable
Ghana's National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed concerns over the credibility of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, citing irregularities during the special voting exercise.
The party has urged the Electoral Commission to address these issues promptly to prevent any potential disputes on election day, December 7.
The NDC has specifically raised concerns about the conduct of some electoral officers and the use of allegedly tamperable indelible ink during the special voting exercise. The party's regional communications officer, Abbas Nurudeen, emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the electoral process while addressing journalists in Kumasi on Thursday, November 5, 2024.
The NDC has further demanded that the Electoral Commission replaces the allegedly tamperable indelible ink with a more secure alternative to prevent multiple voting and impersonation.
“Our ears and eyes are on the ground, and we are monitoring every move of some officials of the EC and their collaborators. We call on all our teeming supporters in the Ashanti Region, sympathizers, and all those who yearn for change to come out in their numbers to vote massively for H.E. John Dramani Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates.”
“During the special voting, we realised that some of the indelible ink used by the EC are easily cleanable. Using an indelible ink that is cleanable creates the necessary environment for multiple voting and impersonation. We raised this issue and the regional EC has given us a firm indication that all those cleanable indelible ink have been replaced. We sincerely hope whatever assurances he has given us are true On D-Day. We will not countenance the use of indelible ink that is cleanable,” he added.
