Mahama to Engage CEOs of State Owned Enterprises in Crucial Reset Talks

Accra, Ghana - 12 March, 2025 - Ghana's President John Mahama is set to meet with Chief Executive Officers of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and other key state entities on March 13th, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
This high-level engagement, facilitated by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), aims to reset and realign SOEs for greater efficiency and effectiveness in driving Ghana's economic growth.
The meeting will also witness the launch of a comprehensive study on 16 SOEs, conducted by SIGA, which evaluates their current state, identifies areas for reform, and proposes strategies for transformation. According to SIGA's Director-General, Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, this study will shape the government's policy direction, ensuring SOEs operate transparently, accountably, and in line with national development objectives.
"We are excited to facilitate this important engagement between the President and CEOs of SOEs," Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, Director-General of SIGA stated in a statement.
"This meeting marks a significant step towards promoting good corporate governance, transparency, and accountability in the management of state-owned enterprises. We are confident that the outcomes of this engagement will have a positive impact on Ghana’s economic development," he added.
The event brings together senior government officials, ministers, and World Bank representatives, highlighting the importance of collaboration between government, international organizations, and state-run enterprises. SIGA encourages all Ghanaians to take an active interest in this initiative, which promises to enhance the efficiency and governance of SOEs, a sector crucial to Ghana's economic growth and national development.
