Mahama Pays Tribute to Late President Mills, Credits Him for 'Reset Agenda'
Accra, Ghana – 24 July, 2025 – President Mahama has credited the late President John Evans Atta Mills' Better Ghana Agenda for inspiring the current administration's Reset Agenda. Speaking at the 13th anniversary of President Mills' passing, Mahama praised Mills' leadership, describing it as an era of service, integrity, and principle.
Mahama emphasized that the memorial ceremony should serve as a moment to reflect on Mills' legacy, rather than just a ceremonial act. He highlighted Mills' commitment to truth, people, and country, saying, "If there's one lesson we draw from the life of President Mills, it is that no challenge is insurmountable when we lead with integrity, when we listen with empathy, and when we govern with principle."
President Mahama described Mills' leadership as calm, peaceful, and focused on social justice. He noted that Mills governed with a deep moral compass, placing truth over expediency, people over politics, and country over self.
The ceremony also touched on the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Library, with Mahama acknowledging concerns about its condition. He assured attendees that plans are underway to renovate and restore the facility to its intended standard.
