Mahama Calls for Thorough Investigation into Ahmed Suale's Killing

Accra, Ghana - 27 March, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has urged authorities to conduct a thorough and swift interrogation of the suspect in connection with the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.
The suspect, Daniel Owusu Koranteng, a former associate of the late journalist, has been arrested and charged with murder.
President Mahama has called for a rigorous probe into Ahmed Suale's murder, stressing the importance of a thorough investigation to bring closure.
He reaffirmed his commitment to human rights and urged swift justice for JB Danquah's murder during a courtesy call by the leader of the Ghana Bar Association, Efua Ghartey, on March 26, 2025.
Mahama's appeal comes as Ghana tackles a backlog of unresolved murders, including Suale's case.
He has tasked police and investigators to vigorously pursue these cases, ensuring accountability and closure for affected families.
“Investigations into significant killings and murders that have remained uninvestigated. I have urged the police and the investigation organisations to look more actively into such cases, like that of Ahmed Suale.
“That is why a first suspect has been arrested, and we are hoping that his interrogation will lead to further arrests of people. There are several other cases like the JB Danquah case. We are asking that they be expedited in terms of prosecution and investigations,” he stated.
