Government Partners with Diotin to Restore Polluted Water Bodies

Accra, Ghana - 19 Feb, 2025 - In a significant move to tackle the critical challenge of water pollution, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology led by the Ministers, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP and Hon. Murtala Mohammed, MP, have proactively engaged Diotin Technologies, a global leader in advanced chemical solutions.
The engagement aims to explore a partnership to address the severe environmental degradation caused by illegal mining activities, which have devastated the nation’s water bodies, in line with the government’s Blue Water Initiative.
Oliver Edwards, Managing Director of Diotin UAE, highlighted the company’s state-of-the-art chemical technology, which can be utilized to implement advanced oxidation and biocide water treatment processes. This innovative method ensures comprehensive water purification, capable of transforming contaminated water into a safe and sustainable resource.
“Our cutting-edge technology is designed to purify polluted water within an impressive 90-day timeframe, making it safe for both human consumption and the preservation of aquatic ecosystems,” Edwards explained.
This proposed partnership, if adopted, is expected to restore the health of polluted water bodies, promoting a safer environment for humans and aquatic organisms alike.
Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative and urged the team to work closely with the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology, local communities and key stakeholders, to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
