Accra, Ghana - September 18, 2025 - Ghana's mobile money transactions reached a significant milestone of GH¢354.1 billion in August 2025, as per the Bank of Ghana's recent economic and financial data. Despite a minor decline from the GH¢355.4 billion recorded in July, mobile payments continue to play a pivotal role in the nation's financial landscape.

Additionally, mobile money interoperability recorded gains, with transaction values rising to GH¢4.9 billion in August, supported by 26.4 million cross-network transfers.
Industry analysts believe that despite recent currency fluctuations and fiscal pressures, the sustained momentum of digital payments signals resilience in Ghana's payment systems. The consistent growth in transaction volumes and active users demonstrates deepening trust in mobile money for everyday payments, remittances, and business transactions.
The growth in mobile money transactions and registered accounts highlights progress in financial inclusion across Ghana. Mobile money continues to play a central role in the country's transition towards a cash-lite economy, expanding access to credit through mobile lending platforms and reducing risks associated with cash transactions.
As Ghana's digital payment ecosystem continues to evolve, mobile money is expected to remain a cornerstone of the financial sector. With its widespread adoption and growing transaction volumes, mobile money is poised to drive further financial inclusion and economic participation in the country.
