Ghana's 2009 U-20 World Cup Winners Set to Receive Long-Term Investment Cheques
Accra, Ghana - 12 Jan, 2025 - The National U-20 Male National Team, Black Satellites who won the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup are set to receive investment cheques that matured after 15 years.
The SAS Finance Group has notified the Ghana Football Association (GFA) that the players can now collect their cheques, which were part of an investment package worth GHS 210,000.
The investment was made on behalf of the 21 players by the Ministry of Youth and Sports after their historic victory in Egypt. Each player was allocated GHS 10,000.
To collect their cheques, players must present a valid Ghana Card for identification purposes. Alternatively, they can authorize a third party to collect on their behalf with a notarized Power of Attorney.
The investment package also included an annual insurance cover to cater for life and health-related expenses of each player.
The 2009 U-20 World Cup triumph remains Ghana's only success at that level to date. The players set to receive their cheques include notable figures such as Andre Ayew, Jonathan Mensah, and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu.
