Ghana and Serbia Sign Historic MoU to Boost Tourism

Accra, Ghana – 19 July, 2025 – Ghana and Serbia have taken a significant step towards strengthening their cultural ties with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on heritage and tourism cooperation.

 The agreement was signed during a courtesy call by the Serbian Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Marko Duric, to the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, in Accra.

 The MoU aims to promote cultural exchange, creative industry development, and tourism investment between the two nations.

 The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, highlighted Ghana's upcoming AfroGhastro Festival, a celebration of African and diaspora culinary heritage. She extended an invitation to Serbia to participate in the festival and explore the power of food as a tool for cultural storytelling and global connection.

 Ghana has also committed to participating in the 2027 World Expo in Serbia, a global exhibition expected to host over 130 countries. The Minister noted that this is a strategic opportunity to showcase Ghanaian culture, sports, and innovation on the world stage.

 The Serbian Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Marko Duric, expressed appreciation for the warm Ghanaian hospitality and described the relationship between the two nations as a "brotherly bond" that has existed since the era of President Kwame Nkrumah.
