Exercise patience, we'll announce election results when they are ready before 72 hours - EC
Ghanaians have been urged to remain patient as the Electoral Commission (EC) works to verify the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections. The polls closed just 24 hours ago, and the EC has assured citizens that the official results will be announced once they have been thoroughly verified.
At a press conference on Sunday, December 8, EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa stated that the commission is working within a 72-hour timeframe to complete the necessary verification process. This meticulous process is designed to ensure accuracy and transparency in the final results.
According to her the EC has so far received results from only the Ahafo Region, with results from other regions still being processed. The commission reassured citizens that it is committed to fulfilling its constitutional duty and will announce the results as soon as they are ready.
“We would like to ask that citizens exercise patience as the process is just in 24 hours. The process is elaborate and it involves the political parties and all agents. We will announce the results if they are ready before 72 hours.”
She added that the EC has results from only the Ahafo Region and is working on results from other regions.
