Elmina Sharks General Manager Arrested For Attacking Referee

Accra, Ghana - 18 Feb, 2025 - Kelvin Aboagye, General Manager of Elmina Sharks has been taken into custody by Ghanaian authorities in connection with a violent attack on a referee during a Division One football match.
Aboagye was arrested for allegedly physically assaulting the referee and some supporters at the Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina on February 16, 2025.
The incident occurred after the match between Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks, with witnesses reporting that Aboagye, along with other individuals, was involved in the assault.
The police have confirmed that Aboagye is currently in custody, assisting with investigations into the incident.
Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attack, as the Ghana Police Service seeks to crack down on violence in football. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of match officials and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
