Electoral Dispute: Supreme Court Adjourns NDC's Case Challenging High Court Decision Indefinitely
Accra, Ghana - 23 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's Supreme Court has indefinitely adjourned a hearing on the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) application to overturn a High Court decision.
The NDC is seeking to overturn the High Court's order for the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete collation in four constituencies; Tema Central, Okaikoi Central, Ablekuma North, and Techiman South.
The NDC is seeking to quash the High Court's decision, but the case has been delayed due to a procedural issue. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates involved in the case had not been served, prompting the Supreme Court to adjourn the hearing sine die.
The disputed constituencies have been a point of contention between the NDC and the NPP, with both parties claiming victory. The EC's decisions have been challenged in court, leading to a complex and protracted legal process.
