Kumasi, Ghana - 05 March, 2025 - In a bid to revive Ghana's once-thriving film industry, Kumawood, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has inaugurated a 17-member ministerial committee.

The committee's primary objective is to develop a comprehensive strategic framework aimed at rejuvenating the industry and creating sustainable employment opportunities for industry players.

Chaired by Bishop Ofori-Adu, the committee comprises industry experts, including celebrated actors Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu and Bill Asamoah.

Dr. Amoakohene emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among committee members during the inauguration ceremony.

According to him, the committee's primary objectives include assessing the industry's current state, developing investment-friendly policies, promoting Ghanaian films globally, and upgrading film infrastructure to meet international standards.

“We as leaders of the country, all we need from you is to unite and work together, because that unity will encourage the president to push more effort to revive the industry. So unity is very key to us as far as the issue is concerned,'' he remarked during the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, March 4.
