"Daddy Lumba's Legacy Will Endure" - Ken Agyapong
Accra, Ghana – 1 August, 2025 – Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Member of Parliament for Assin North, has paid a visit to the family of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba. Accompanied by his team, Agyapong expressed his condolences to the grieving family, describing Lumba as "a true legend gone too soon".
The visit comes after Daddy Lumba's passing on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60, following a short illness at the Bank Hospital in Accra. Lumba's death sent shockwaves through the music industry and beyond, with many prominent figures, including President John Dramani Mahama, former President Nana Akufo-Addo, and musicians like Kojo Antwi and Serwaa Amihere, paying tribute to the legendary musician.
Agyapong's visit to the deceased musician's residence in East Legon, Accra, demonstrates his respect for Lumba's contributions to Ghanaian music. As a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, Agyapong's gesture is seen as a mark of appreciation for Lumba's legacy.
Following news of Lumba's demise, tributes have been pouring in from all corners of the country. Kojo Antwi, a fellow musician, visited Lumba's residence, sharing an emotional moment with the late musician's wife, Priscilla Ofori Atta. Antwi described Lumba as an "African Music Legend & prolific hit-maker of Ghanaian Heritage" and offered heartfelt condolences to the family.
Other notable figures, including Davido, a Nigerian music superstar, have also paid tribute to Lumba. The musician was honored at a concert in Canada, where Davido played Lumba's hit song "Aben Wo Ha".
