Black Stars Rise One Spot to 75th in Latest FIFA Rankings, Still 14th in Africa
Ghana's senior national football team, the Black Stars, has moved up one place in the latest FIFA rankings, climbing to 75th position globally. This improvement comes after their performances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers during the September 2025 international window.
Under the guidance of head coach Otto Addo, the Black Stars secured a 1-1 draw against Chad and a 2-1 victory over Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium. These results not only boosted their global ranking but also helped them maintain their top spot in Group I of the qualifiers.
Globally, the Black Stars have jumped from 76th to 75th position, a significant improvement in the FIFA rankings. However, despite this progress, their continental ranking remains unchanged, with Ghana still sitting in 14th place among African nations.
The Black Stars are set to return to action later this year, with crucial World Cup qualifying matches against the Central African Republic and Madagascar in October. Coach Otto Addo hopes to build on the team's momentum and further improve their ranking with strong performances in these upcoming matches.
Currently ,Ghana leads Group I with 19 points after eight games, having won six matches, drawn one, and lost one. Madagascar follows closely in second place with 16 points. Comoros occupies third place with 15 points, while Mali trails behind with 12 points.
The Black Stars are eyeing a fifth World Cup appearance since their debut in 2006, and their recent climb in the FIFA rankings is a positive step towards achieving this goal.
