AFCON Qualifiers: Ghana seeks crucial win against 'difficult and tight' Angola today
Accra, Ghana - Nov 15, 2024 - Ghana's Black Stars are set to face Angola in a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier today, November 15, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola.
Head Coach Otto Addo expressed confidence in his squad's form and fitness ahead of the match, stating, "The boys are looking sharp and in great shape. The atmosphere is good, and everyone understands the importance of this game."
Ghana currently sits in 4th place in Group F with only two points from four matches.
However, Niger's 4-0 win over Sudan has revived Ghana's qualification hopes. To secure a spot, the Black Stars must win both remaining matches against Angola and Niger and rely on an Angola victory over Sudan.
Angola, already qualified for the 2025 AFCON, will present a tough test, according to Addo. "These are tough games. It’s not safe to assume they will play at a lower intensity. I know Angola will be 100 percent prepared. Being an away game, it will be very challenging and closely fought,'' he stated.
Ghana's mental preparation will be key, with Addo emphasizing, "I believe the team is mentally ready. This is a chance for our first victory, a great opportunity to stay in contention."
Kick-off is set for 19:00 GMT.
