We know the register is not credible, we want an an independent audit - Kofi Buah

Sekondi - Takoradi, Ghana - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a stern warning against potential electoral manipulation, vowing to protect Ghana's democracy.

Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah sounded the alarm during the party's 'Enough is Enough' protest in Sekondi-Takoradi.

The NDC demands the Electoral Commission (EC) address concerns over the voter register, ensuring transparency and credibility in the upcoming general elections.

“We want to safeguard our democracy. This call is for the peace and stability of our country. We know that the electoral commission is colluding with the NPP, so we are doing everything to stop it. We know that the register is not credible and we have asked for an independent audit. We think that is the only way to assure the people of Ghana of a credible register that will lead to transparent and credible elections,” he said.

The Western Regional, the NDC regional chairman, Nana Toku reaffirmed the party's determination to press for reforms.

“The EC has presented a register which is not credible to the people of this country and we are saying that, until that register is corrected, we will not rest until they do so. Enough is enough for us and we want peace in this country and therefore they should do the right thing. If they do not respond to it, there will be another action,” Nana Toku stated.

The demonstration attended by notable figures like Dr. Sipa Yankey, drew approximately 800 police personnel to maintain order.

Protesters marched through Takoradi, culminating in a petition submission at the EC office.
