Vote NPP for better education, NDC cannot manage our education sector- NAPO

Afigya Kwabre South, Ghana -  The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its handling of Ghana's education sector.

Speaking at Afrancho in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency, NAPO stated that the NDC lacks the capacity to effectively manage education.

During the NDC's eight-year rule, educational infrastructure did not undergo the transformation it deserved, NAPO noted. He cited the NDC's failed promise to deliver 200 E-Blocks, instead delivering only 28. In contrast, the NPP has completed most of the E-Block facilities because they prioritize education as key to Ghana's progress.

According to him, the NPP's achievements in education which includes implementing the free Senior High School policy has improved enrollment, especially for pupils from poor backgrounds.

He also stated that through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the NPP has completed 3,001 legacy and new projects, including 1,827 legacy projects and 1,174 new projects. These projects comprise various infrastructure developments in basic schools, Senior High Schools, and tertiary institutions.

Additionally, nine model schools are under construction, including the Creative Arts School and five model Science-based schools.

He also stated that the government has also distributed 2,718 vehicles and 1,500 motorbikes to educational institutions between 2019-2021.

Furthermore, he noted that 677,470 furniture items have been distributed to basic and secondary schools during the same period and under the 'One Teacher, One Laptop' policy, 350,000 laptops have been distributed to Ghanaian teachers.

NAPO urged Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia as president to ensure the education sector continues to progress, emphasizing the NPP's commitment to education as the key to Ghana's future.

“Under the NPP government, academic work and infrastructure in the various schools have improved significantly due to good governance,” he said.
