Parliament resumes session at AICC amid ongoing chamber renovation

Accra, Ghana - October 15, 2024 - Ghana's Parliament is set to commence its fifth meeting of the fourth session today, October 15, 2024, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The temporary relocation is due to ongoing renovation works in the main chamber of Parliament, which typically serves as the venue for its sessions.

Before this upcoming meeting, Parliament held a two-day emergency sitting at the Dome, where it approved a $250 million loan agreement with the World Bank. This loan aims to support Ghana's Energy Sector Recovery Programme, addressing challenges such as financial sustainability and operational efficiency, crucial for the country's economic stability.

In a formal statement signed by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin on September 30, 2024, Members of Parliament were officially notified about the House's reconvening for the fifth meeting.

The agreement, initially disapproved before Parliament's recess, was a key reason for the recall of the House on September 3, 2024.
