Paris Olympics: Azamati and Saminu loses out on final spot in Men's 100m
Ghanaian sprinters Benjamin Azamati and Abdul Rasheed Saminu were unable to qualify for the men's 100-metre final at the current Olympic Games in Paris.
Azamati ran 10.17 seconds in his semi-final heat on Sunday, finishing ninth in a race won by Jamaica's Oblique Seville, with world champion Noah Lyles coming second.
Saminu placed seventh in his semi-final with a time of 10.05 seconds, beating Africa's fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, who finished eighth.
Kishane Thompson of Jamaica won the heat in a blistering speed of 9.80 seconds, followed by Tokyo Olympics silver winner Fred Kerley.
Ghana's quest to reach the Olympic sprint final continues, with the last participation dating back to Athens 2004 when Aziz Zakari made it.
