PAC orders GES to investigate 18 teachers with fake certificates
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has instructed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to investigate 18 teachers who promoted themselves at Amansie Central without following GES regulations.
A report from the Amansie Central Education Directorate revealed that the teachers upgraded themselves without the appropriate documentation and with increased salaries, resulting in a financial loss of GH¢188,000 to the state.
The District Education Director for Amansie Central, Vincent Ben Ameyaw, disclosed in an interview with the media that GH¢34,000 had been retrieved.
“We have been able to collect GH¢34,731.53 and we are left with GH¢152,966.54 and we are on course collecting [the balance].
“We did not place [promote those teachers], they did self-upgrading without passing through the office. So it is a backdoor affair,' he stated.
