NextGen InfraCo CEO Tony Mintah found after brief disappearance

Accra, Ghana -  October 23, 2024 - In a dramatic turn of events, Ghanaian police have located Tony Mintah, Chief Executive Officer of NextGen InfraCo, the company leading Ghana's transition to 5G technology.

Mintah's disappearance earlier today sparked widespread concern, particularly with the November 1 rollout of 5G services just around the corner.

According to authorities, Mintah was taken from the National Communications Authority (NCA) by unidentified individuals. An investigation was swiftly launched, and police were able to track down Mintah's whereabouts. He is currently being transferred to the Police Headquarters from the Kaneshie Police Station, where he was initially held.

The incident's timing is particularly sensitive, given the imminent launch of 5G services in Ghana. Communication Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful announced the November 1 rollout, following the launch of NextGen InfraCo (NGIC) in June 2024. The company aims to provide affordable 5G mobile broadband services to Ghanaians.

As the situation unfolds, officials assure that further information will be provided in due course.

The police have confirmed Mintah's safe recovery in a statement but have not disclosed additional details about his disappearance or the ongoing investigation.
