Ministry of Interior renews curfew in troubled Jaman South communities

Accra, Ghana - October 18, 2024 - The Ministry of Interior has renewed curfew hours in eight communities in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region, effective Thursday, October 17, 2024.

The affected communities are Drobo, Japekrom, Babianiha, Kwasibourkrom, Mpuasu, Basekrom, Kojokesekrom, and Katakyiekrom.

Curfew Details

- Time: 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

- Total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons

- Anyone found with arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted

The government has expressed appreciation to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area for their efforts in maintaining peace. They are urged to continue using established mechanisms for resolving conflicts and disputes.

This renewal of curfew hours is not an isolated incident. Similar curfew renewals have occurred in the past, including in August 2023 and February 2021.

The Ministry's actions aim to maintain peace and security in the region.
