Ghana drops to 14th in CAF rankings, slides to 70th in latest FIFA world rankings
Ghana's national football team, the Black Stars, has suffered a significant drop in the latest FIFA World Rankings, sliding six places to 70th globally.
The decline follows Ghana's underwhelming performance in the opening games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers. Otto Addo's side lost 0-1 to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium and drew 1-1 with Niger in Morocco.
Ghana's previous ranking of 64th has been surpassed by Georgia, Burkina Faso, United Arab Emirates, Albania, Cape Verde, and Burkina Faso. On the continental stage, the Black Stars dropped two spots to 14th, with Burkina Faso and Cape Verde leapfrogging them.
Morocco now tops the CAF rankings, displacing Senegal to second. Egypt, Cote d'Ivoire, and Tunisia round out the top five.
The latest rankings reflect Ghana's struggles in recent international matches, highlighting the need for improvement ahead of future competitions.
